i feel it when i brush my teeth
i feel it when i fold the laundry
i feel it when i talk on the phone
something dark is in the air
"everything is fine"
"everything is okay"
"you're going to be okay"
"you're just fine"
if this is a lie, it is a loving one
but it has undermined my ability
to differentiate
when are things fine?
if everyone is going to pretend things are fine
when they aren't
then i am going to believe things are dark
when they aren't
just to be on the safe side
